WIPO Lex: IP Laws and Treaties
WIPO Lex is an on-line legal database of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). It features over 10,000 laws and regulations from nearly 200 States, and over 600 international treaties concerning intellectual property (IP) issues (patent, trademark, copyright, industrial design, geographical indication, traditional knowledge, etc.). Access is free and the database has interfaces in all official UN-languages. The search facility retrieves information on a particular subject, country or organization. The database is maintained in line with the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS), which requires its Members to notify their legislation on IP. WIPO Lex was launched in 2011 and all its elements are reviewed and updated on a regular basis.
How to protect your design abroad/internationally
You may want to register your design outside of the Republic of Tajikistan, to obtain protection in the whole of the European Union (EU), as well as in other countries outside the EU or even beyond. The Hague System for the International Registration of Industrial Designs provides a centralized registration system where you can e-file up to 100 designs and target over 62 territories in one single application that you could use to claim priority on in further filings.
The Republic of Tajikistan is a Member of 1999 (Geneva) Act of the Hague Agreement. Any individual or business in the Republic of Tajikistan can file an international application under the Hague System. For more information on Filing an International Application, geographical coverage and fees, and to get started, please go to www.wipo.int/hague/en.
